The issues from the Polkadex Open Beta’s first 45-day testing cycle have now been rated. The first cycle of Open Beta testing began July 4th and came to an end on August 18th. Throughout this first cycle of Open Beta testing, Polkadexers tested Polkadex Orderbook on Kaizen (the Polkadex public testnet) and opened over 200 issues on the Open Beta repository. The Polkadex team has combed through the repository and rated all the issues logged by members of the Polkadex community. All the non-duplicate issues deemed relevant or deemed to add value to the product have been given a rating ranging from Normal, to Moderate, and Critical.

Reward cycles

As mentioned in the Polkadex Open Beta Terms & Conditions, every 45-day Open Beta feedback cycle will either be deemed as ‘rewarded’ or ‘unrewarded’. Whether a cycle is rewarded will depend on each cycle’s respective Treasury-spend proposal as voted on by the Polkadex Council. Moving forward, an announcement of the cycle’s reward status will be made by the Polkadex team before the start of a cycle.

If the feedback cycle is a ‘Rewarded Cycle’ (that is, if the Polkadex Council approves the PDEX treasury spend of the total reward pool), Open Beta participants who have provided feedback in the correct format (see Open Beta Terms & Conditions and sample GitHub issue), and have received ratings for their feedback, are eligible for rewards.

Ratings

After a 45-day Rewarded Cycle ends, the Polkadex team will finish rating issues logged by testers and announce the tallies within the following 45 days. For example, cycle 1 rewards will be calculated and announced during cycle 2, cycle 2 rewards will be calculated and announced during cycle 3, and so on.

After completing the rating of issues for a cycle, the Polkadex team will share a rewards tally for that cycle.

Reward pools

Shortly after this article is published, the Polkadex Council will vote on a proposal to reward cycle 1 of Open Beta testing feedback. This proposal will also include a Treasury spend to cover rewards for cycle 2 (August 19th to October 2nd) and cycle 3 (October 3rd to November 16th). Moving forward, proposals will be made before each cycle and reward pools will be announced prior to the start of a cycle.

Keep an eye on the Polkadex Polkassembly page and the Open Beta channel on Discord. If the proposal passes, the rewards will be distributed as follows.

Total reward pools for the 45 day testing cycle

A total of $3,500 in PDEX would be awarded to this testing cycle with a breakdown per reward pool as follows:

  • $2,000 for all issues rated as ‘Critical’
  • $1,000 for issues rated as ‘Moderate’
  • $500 for issues rated as ‘Normal’

The total rewards is designed to be split evenly among contributors based on the ratings of the issues they have logged.

Check the total rewards tally for cycle 1 here. The ratings made by Polkadex Inc are final and indisputable and the rewards ultimately depend on whether the Polkadex Council votes each cycle as a Rewarded Cycle.

Step by step claiming guide

  1. Send an email to openbeta@polkadex.trade requesting for your rewards to be sent out to the Polkadex account address you used to file the feedback.
  2. Use the subject line ‘Cycle n rewards request’ where ’n’ is the cycle number for which you are requesting rewards.
  3. Attach a screenshot of your eligible rewards from the rewards tally spreadsheet.
  4. Make sure to use the same email address mentioned on your verified on-chain identity. Only the Open Beta testers who send the reward request email from the same email address as the one listed on their on-chain identity will receive their respective rewards. Double check whether your on-chain identity is verified. As mentioned in the Terms & Conditions, only testers with a verified on-chain identity will be able to claim rewards.
  5. Shortly after you send your rewards claim to openbeta@polkadex.trade, you will receive a link to verify your identity. Complete the identity verification instructions in the link.*
  6. After your details have successfully been verified, the Polkadex finance team will send you your rewards.
  7. Be sure to claim your rewards using the steps in this guide before the end of the next testing cycle (45 days from October 2nd)

After you follow the steps above, the Polkadex team will verify the details provided in your email and send out eligible rewards. The details the Polkadex team will analyze in order to verify your request will include:

  • Checking whether the email address your request is sent from matches the email address provided on your on-chain identity and your logged GitHub issues
  • Whether the rewards claimed are accurate
  • Whether the screenshot from the rewards tally spreadsheet matches the actual amount on the sheet.

If you have questions at any point during the claiming process, please drop into the #openbeta channel on the Polkadex Discord Server so members of the team or other fellow Open Beta participants can help.

Terms & Conditions

The Polkadex Open Beta is a program designed to evolve with the needs of development as the Polkadex ecosystem grows. As a result, this also means the Terms and Conditions for participating in the program will change periodically.

*Currently, testers based in the USA are restricted from receiving beta tester rewards based on SEC regulations. As mentioned above, before your rewards are distributed, you will have to verify your identity via a third party. If the third party verifier finds you are a US-based tester, you will automatically be rejected from receiving rewards.

There have been changes to the Terms and Conditions since the start of the Open Beta program. Check the Terms & Conditions document on the Polkadex Open Beta repository to track any recent and future changes to the program.

Thank you, Polkadexers

By participating in the Open Beta program, you are contributing to the creation of a new era in non-custodial trading.
