The newest version of the Polkadex network is now available. Version 1.0.8 marks the first step towards the upcoming mainnet releases of Thea, PolkaIDO & Polkadex Orderbook.

This latest build version will ensure the network is secure and stable prior to the release of products. This version will also be the Polkadex version that runs on Ledger devices once the Ledger team’s review is complete, ensuring smooth interactions with Polkadex Orderbook. Also on Ledger, Polkadex network participants will be able to store, stake, and transfer PDEX.

In order to prepare for these upcoming launches, it is important that network participants upgrade to v1.0.8 as soon as possible. Once network validators, exchanges, and ecosystem partners have upgraded their nodes, the team will do a runtime upgrade. Ideally, the runtime upgrade can be done before the end of April or in the coming weeks, depending on how fast network participants adopt the latest upgrade.

Upgrading to v1.0.8

It is important for validators to upgrade to v1.0.8 sooner than later as a speedier upgrade process will have a positive impact on the release timeframe. In order to gauge how many validators have upgraded to v1.0.8 and execute the runtime upgrade, we’ve created this form. If — and only if — you are a Polkadex validator, fill out the form once you’ve upgraded to v.1.0.8 using the step by step guide below.

Step by step upgrade guide for validators

Since this update only changes the Substrate version run by the Polkadex network, there is no need to build a node from scratch. Most validators will only need to download the new binary and replace it, which will mean your node is merely offline for a few minutes as you follow the steps below:

  • Download v1.0.8 release
  • Unzip v1.0.8 Binary
  • Stop service file (Command to use: systemctl stop polkadex.service)
  • Replace old polkadex-node binary with new one
  • Restart service file (Command to use: systemctl start polkadex.service)

Here is a link to the docker image in case you need it.

What about validators who use OnFinality?

OnFinality makes it even easier to upgrade to the latest build. From your main OnFinality dashboard, simply select Actions → Change Image and select v1.0.8

Already upgraded?

Remember to fill out the form to let the team know your node is upgraded as that will help the team make a data-backed decision on the timing of the runtime upgrade and help avoid any potential missteps.

Getting ready for the ramp up

The release of v1.0.8 is the first step in the release of Polkadex’s products to the mainnet. Once the new release has been adopted by network participants and once the runtime upgrade is applied, releases will start making their way to the Polkadex network. Prior to that, look for a handful of releases coming to the public testnet very soon!

It’s all happening. Make sure to stay tuned using the channels below!
